Social Studies
Information
Students will need to copy the information from at least one tombstone so they will know which decades to research.
Students need to have some background knowledge on major events that took place in US history so that their time line isn’t laden with minor details. |
Activity
Students will use reliable sources to conduct research on various decades in American history.
Students will use the information they’ve collected to create a time line of important events that occurred throughout the lifetime of one person buried at Oberlin Village. Students will demonstrate that they understand point of view by writing a journal entry as if they are living a day in the life of that particular person. They will create and then share their story with members of the class. During the presentation, each student may either dress up as a character during that time period or bring in an artifact and tell how it relates to a decade (s) they researched. |
